Veterinary and animal health technology students enrolled in recognized or accredited programs may gain valuable instruction/experience by participating in the practice of veterinary medicine in Alberta.
Students engaged in veterinary medical activities must be ABVMA student members, and the veterinary practice must apply for permission from the Registrar to engage the student in veterinary medical activities. Animal health students also become members of the Alberta Veterinary Technologist Association (ABVTA) when they register with the ABVMA.
The students may participate in an instructional capacity as outlined in
Council Guidelines for the Roles of Registered Veterinary Technologists, Students and Unregistered Auxiliaries.
