Classified Ads, Continuing Education and Library
For non-ABVMA members, the first time you use this website you will create a guest profile using ‘Register To Purchase Classified Ad Or For Continuing Education Approval’ to create a guest login account. After registering you will see your Guest Portal which shows buttons for ‘Purchase a Classified Ad’ and ‘CE Approval for your Organization’s CE event’. After you have created your guest profile, you can log in any time using the ‘Member Login’ to purchase classified ads or apply for CE approval for your organization’s event.
Click on ‘Classified Ads Directory’ to see the current listing of classified ads.
Classified Ads are offered for several categories. There is no charge for student classified ads. Click on ‘Purchase a Classified Ad’ to see the pricing and category information. The ABVMA is unable to post classified ads on behalf of practices. The ABVMA reserves the right to refuse any advertisement. If you encounter any difficulties, please email: email@example.com, with all relevant information (such as: classified ad ID number, ABVMA invoice number, payment amount, etc.). Alternatively, please call 1-800-404-2862 or 780-489-5007 with the same information listed above.
Due to an extremely high volume in requests to modify existing ads, and the administrative costs associated with them - the ABVMA will no longer accommodate requests to re-word or re-write existing ads.
Please proofread your ad carefully. Once approved, all ad wording is final.
Small modifications to ads will only be considered to address missing or incorrect contact information. Modifications are limited to the following: practice name, contact name, location, phone number, email address, website.
Due to system capacities, no exceptions can be made for ads over 1,200 characters. Classifieds cannot be renewed and are required to be resubmitted.
|To assist members who have been laid off due to COVID-19, the ABVMA will provide two opportunities to find employment:
Free Classified Ads (Veterinarian Available and Veterinary Technologist Available):
The association recognizes that all businesses are impacted by the current COVID-19 pandemic, with the veterinary profession being no exception. In these difficult times, layoffs may be imminent.
Classified ad fees will be waived for registered members who would like to place a classified ad in the Veterinarian Available or Veterinary Technologist Available classified categories. Complimentary ads will be available until further notice, are restricted to these two categories and are available only to members laid-off due to COVID-19. These will default to two units (four months) online and in the next bi-monthly issue of the ABVMA Members' Magazine
Spreadsheet of Veterinarians and Veterinary Technologists Available for Work in Alberta:
The ABVMA will publish a quick access list of veterinarians and veterinary technologists available for work in Alberta on the member portal, COVID-19 Announcement Box (login required). The list will be updated and posted twice daily starting Wednesday, April 1, 2020, and will remain in place until further notice.
The following information will be collected and published in the list:
• Member name
• Member type (veterinarian or veterinary technologist)
• Region where member is able/willing to work (ie. Edmonton, Calgary, North, Central, etc.)
• A contact email and/or phone number
Eligible members are welcome to place a FREE classified ad and/or be added to the list on the member portal. Please do so by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Members are responsible for removing their classified ad and/or removing themselves from the list if they find employment, by contacting email@example.com.
Continuing Education - Ongoing
The continuing education postings on this page are training opportunities or webinars that you can access at a time convenient to you. The webinars on this page have been approved by the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association.
Continuing Education – By Month
This page lists continuing education courses available by month. Not all courses have been approved by the ABVMA. ABVMA approved CE is noted with the ABVMA logo.
ABVMA members can upload their CE certificates on their individual member portal as well as tracking continuing education hours there.
The library contains the ABVMA annual report, an archive of the ABVMA Members’ Magazine as well as a printable version of the ABVMA directory.
The Library also contains a search function for documents housed on the ABVMA website. The search function in the library ‘Search All Documents’ searches documents on the website and will find documents with your searched word whether the word is in the title of the document or within the document. The search button at the top right of the website screen searches for website content.
